Metodología para la evaluación de superestructura de puentes metálicos en vías de primer orden

Abstract

This study examines issues of social and practical importance for civil engineering. Bridge building is a work of strategic importance, whether in civilian or military life. A correct assessment of the state of bridge construction can save resources, prevent accidents and contribute to the optimal distribution of resources and the development of the national economy. The infrastructure of a bridge is formed by the abutments or end pillars, the central piles or supports and the foundations, which form the basis of both. The superstructure consists of the board or part that directly supports the loads and the frames, constituted by beams, cables, or vaults and arches that transmit the loads of the board to the piles and the stirrups. This methodology is carried out using the following methods: To collect information about the object, an inventory of the elements of the metal bridge is made using observation guides to evaluate the existing structural elements and thus obtain the existing pathological characteristics and conditions, combined with a description of the damage, meet the requirements for each criterion and obtain an assessment of the condition of the bridge. Therefore, this method was applied to the case study of the Bridge over the Pital River in the canton of Santa Rosa, Province of El Oro
