Evaluación de la condición del pavimento flexible mediante método pci de la Av circunvalación sur de la ciudad de Machala

Abstract

The purpose of this work is to evaluate the operational condition or state of the pavement that currently presents a part of Av Circunvalación Sur, considering that both light and heavy vehicles travel on this road. In order to precisely define the alternatives to be followed, a previous evaluation of the pavement was carried out by applying the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) method of the ASTM D6433-07 Standard, following a short sequence of steps: In the first place, information was collected in the field where the quantities, types and severities of each existing failure of this road were found; Secondly, the PCI value was calculated for the 10 sample units and then for the entire section under study, which is 400 meters long, resulting in a PCI value of 55, giving us a regular road as a result. Based on the PCI obtained for the road under study, the following considerations are determined; we proceed to propose the solution, a Routine Maintenance (RM) should be performed, which consists of performing surface patching and sealing of cracks, combined with cleaning of drainage works and cutting of vegetation.
