Abstract

In this work, prior to obtaining the degree of Civil Engineer, a technical and economic evaluation of the foundations of the laboratory building of the Civil Engineering faculty was carried out. The necessary information was collected, such as the physical plans of the building, which are in the process of being digitized in the Construction Department of the UTMACH. This information was used to calculate the total weight of the building and to determine the most requested column of the structure. The soil study was obtained from the thesis of Stefany Judith Mancheno Torres, which is registered in the repository of the School of Civil Engineering. The soil study records a soil with low bearing capacity with values less than 1kg, cm2. The purpose of the technical and economic evaluation of the laboratory building of the Civil Engineering faculty is to determine the load that the building exerts on the ground in each footing. The soil study will allow us to determine its mechanical properties in order to know if the soil is suitable for construction or if it is necessary to improve it. For the process, 2 types of footings will be considered such as a spread footing and a square footing to determine their dimensions and to choose the dimensions of the improvement layer necessary to increase the soil resistance. An estimate of the volume of materials in each type of footing under study is attached.
