Conveniencia de utilizar el DSM-V en la formación profesional del psicólogo clínico.

Abstract

Based on the studies carried out on the DSM diagnostic manual created by the American Psychiatric Association, as a guide for the classification of mental disorders, it has been the subject of study by researchers in the area, since its first edition DSM-I and its most recent version DSM-V, it has been immersed in variations and changes to improve its taxonomy and facilitate clinical work for psychiatry and psychology professionals. In this sense, the acceptance of the DSM-V has generated controversy and criticism about the limitations that it presents, different authors have noted their discomfort with the recent modifications, despite this, the DSM-V is the book with more recognition and use globally, so that it is adapted to all regions and countries of the world, so much so that it is considered mandatory for the determination of clinical work. With this, it is worth mentioning the importance of emphasizing the use of the diagnostic manual in the professional training of the clinical psychologist, since it is an indispensable tool for diagnosis that will allow a good therapeutic and pharmacological approach, in addition to the DSM-V is complemented with standardized psychological tests, interview and observation to reach a diagnosis. Therefore, the objective of this research is to determine the convenience of using the DSM-V as a resource in the training of the clinical psychologist, in order to understand its current feasibility, through literature review, analysis and understanding of the bibliographic bases related to this research topic.
