Resumen:
Valuing the mineral, cultural, and heritage riches that the Portovelo canton possesses is a fundamental part of preserving the identity of this place, as the interest in mining activity has been declining. For this reason, the main purpose of this project is to create a mining tourism route that allows discovering the unique characteristics of the canton and, at the same time, promoting the appreciation of cultural heritage. The mixed method approach is applied in the methodology, which consists of using both quantitative and qualitative approaches, with the application of different research methods that allow us to obtain the expected results. The route includes visits to places that have a great history about what mining was, making this canton considered the first mining center in Ecuador.

El valorizar las riquezas minerales, culturales y patrimoniales que tiene el cantón Portovelo es parte fundamental para conservar la identidad que posee este lugar, ya que el interés por la actividad minera se ha ido perdiendo, el propósito principal de este proyecto es crear una ruta turística minera que permita descubrir las características únicas del cantón y, a su vez, promover la apreciación del patrimonio cultural. Dentro de la metodología se aplica método mixto el cual consiste en hacer uso del enfoque cuantitativo y cualitativo, con la aplicación de diferentes métodos de investigación lo que nos permite obtener los resultados esperados. La ruta incluye la visita de los lugares que cuentan con una gran historia sobre lo que fue la minería, lo que hace que este cantón sea considerado el primer centro minero del Ecuador.
