El trastorno depresivo asociado al diagnóstico médico de Parkinson en el adulto mayor.

Abstract

Depressive disorder due to a medical illness, is given by a highly persistent alteration in mood that occurs due to direct physiological changes of a medical illness or by a noticeable decrease in pleasure or interest in certain activities that previously felt like doing, causing a clinically significant alteration, in the social environment, work or other important areas in the patient's life. The main objective of this research is to characterize the signs and symptoms that determine depression in elderly people with Parkinson's disease. A descriptive type bibliographic research was carried out; based on current scientific articles. This factor caused the depressive disorder due to a medical illness to cause in the patient, the pleasure, interest or satisfaction of performing certain activities that he liked to do. The presence of Parkinson's was identified where it prevented him from doing certain activities normally, which caused frustration in the patient, not being the same as always, loss of energy, he refused to attend social events of family or friends, he withdrew from social life; because he had stopped enjoying the things he used to enjoy doing. In addition, he/she presents a number of symptoms such as psychomotor retardation, fatigue, difficulty in concentrating, difficulty in socializing; in some cases loss of autonomy, family or social dependence. Therefore, when these two pathologies are combined, they can cause cognitive, emotional and physical alterations that can affect the daily life of the elderly.
