Abstract

The instability of slopes presents a significant problem for society, resulting in the affectation of structures, crops, road and hydraulic works, among others; In addition to these alterations, there are loss of human and animal lives caused by various factors such as heavy rainfall, vibrations generated by tremors or earthquakes and by the intervention of anthropic origin. The foot of the slope of the Pata Grande Hill located adjacent to the Luis Moscoso Zambrano Basic Hospital of Canton Piñas, Province of El Oro, is currently declared a vulnerable area due to a landslide in 2013 that caused the destruction of part of The structure of this hospital, therefore the Emerging Operations Committee declared the state of emergency in the area and proceeded with the evacuation of the hospital to the facilities of the San Josè School and the Professional Drivers Association of Piñas; After a year the authorities were in need of occupying the hospital facilities due to lack of space and patient congestion. Today the Government of the Republic of Ecuador is building a basic hospital for the benefit of the cantons of the upper part of the Province of El Oro, Piñas, Atahualpa, Portovelo and Zaruma; but the corresponding authorities require a report on the conditions of the vulnerable area, since it presents signs of risk, for this infrastructure to be used as the new Urban Health Center.
