Análisis comparativo del Capital Intelectual en IES públicas de España y Latinoamérica a través de Rankings Mundiales de Universidades.

Abstract

The Intellectual Capital (IC) of the Higher Education Institutions (HEI), as the main intangible asset for the increase of knowledge and advancement of science, is measured by different World Universities Rankings (WUR). The aim of the present work is to compare the methodologies used by four WUR: ARWU, THE, QS and WebofMetrics, with the purpose of establishing the main indicators that allow to measure the IC. The 2018 data of the WUR of 47 public HEI in Spain and 39 HEI in Latin America were consolidated, the latter belonging to 10 countries in the region. When analyzing the information by means of contingency tables and crossing of variables, it was observed that the common indicators among the 4 WUR were: employability, retention and titling rates, scientific production of articles and books/chapters, internationalization of students and teachers, training of postgraduate studies (masters and doctorates). The analysis places 9 Spanish HEI together with 8 Latin American among the 500 best in the world, for their average values obtained in the classification of the 4 WUR, and establishes the need to improve the dissemination of achievements, recognitions and products obtained at the institutional by art of the HEI.
