Contaminación por metales pesados y su impacto en el ecosistema marino y en la salud humana.

Abstract

In this bibliographical research, marine pollution by heavy metals is analyzed, this being a topic of great importance worldwide since it affects aquatic organisms and humans. The objective of this research is to review the literature on heavy metal pollution and its effects on the marine ecosystem and its impact on human health. Heavy metals can reach the sea through different sources, whether natural or anthropogenic, the latter being the ones that contribute the most to the sea. Several articles are mentioned where the presence of this type of contaminant has been evidenced, which bioaccumulates and biomagnifies in the marine food chain, even affecting humans. Marine pollution is a reality that worsens over the years due to industrialization and urbanization, since its waste contains pollutants, among them are heavy metals, which in addition to affecting its flora and fauna, also harms man by consuming products from the sea, causing illness and even death.
