Abordaje efectivo para infecciones vaginales: tratamiento farmacológico solo y combinado con probióticos.

Abstract

Objective: The aim was to analyze the effectiveness of probiotics as adjunctive therapy in vaginal infections and their combination with conventional drugs. Material and Methods: 10 clinical trials that met the inclusion/exclusion criteria were selected and the results were analyzed to evaluate the efficacy of probiotics in the treatment and prevention of vaginal infections. Results: The combined use of pharmacological treatment and probiotics is recommended for the management of vaginal infections based on the evidence of a higher cure rate without the presence of recurrences. Conclusions: The combination of pharmacological treatment and probiotics showed promising results in restoring vaginal microbiota and reducing pathogenic bacteria. The importance of lifestyle measures to improve therapeutic efficacy is highlighted; further research is required to support their clinical use and long-term safety.
