Las Humanidades en la formación de Ingenieros Químicos de la UAZ: realidades, retos y expectativas.

Abstract

The purpose of the research is to investigate the need and shortcomings of the Humanities in the training of professionals in chemical engineering, since it is becoming necessary to attend to the integral formation of human beings, however, in curriculum development , it is observed that there is a considerable rupture between the exact sciences and the Humanities, which is why it has been placed in a considerable gap to the future engineers, given the pretended academic excellence in the exact sciences, to the detriment of the approach of humanistic contents. To this end, a quantitative methodology was proposed with a double entry matrix type instrument, to measure the importance versus relevance from the student perception, around the Humanities. The 88 surveys carried out show that there is knowledge of the needs of the Humanities as a complement to training, however, the lack of interest in them continues to predominate given the low importance and influence that the student gives to this type of knowledge. This forces us to institute mechanisms so that there is a reconstruction of the relationship between Humanities and Exact Sciences in the search for professionals with a solid integral formation and individual and collective self-realization.
