Abstract

The present case study focuses on analyzing the influence of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder on learning and behavior in a child in the third year of Basic General Education at the Jaime Roldos Aguilera school in the city of Machala. To achieve this goal, various research instruments were used. First, an interview was conducted with the teacher to find out what the child's learning is like within the educational environment. Subsequently, an observation guide was made to obtain a perspective of their behavior. Psychometric tests such as the Cumanes Test were then applied to assess neuropsychological maturation and the Conners Scale to describe ADHD-related behavior. In the evaluation process, we identify the aspects that influence the child's teaching-learning process. Through the information obtained, low levels of neuropsychological maturation were found, notable alterations in their language, memory and executive functions, generating difficulties in understanding, decoding and retaining information, affecting their working memory, short and long term. As for the information we obtained about his behavior, it is that he presents excessive motor restlessness and impulsivity in the different environments in which he develops, which is usually controlled by medication. These difficulties influence their academic development, altering the teaching-learning processes and generating low performance. This study provides detailed information, which will help to carry out intervention projects, accompaniment and methodological strategies to improve the learning processes of students with ADHD.
