Abstract

This research project focuses on the analysis of the local content present on the Diario Correo website during the first half of 2024. A qualitative-quantitative approach is used. The research is based on the communication theory of Functionalism, which seeks to examine how the media treat the information they broadcast. Diario Correo, with more than 41 years in the province, has evolved with new technologies by creating its website. In this context, the project focuses on analyzing the treatment of local information on the website, using content analysis tools designed specifically for this purpose. The importance of adapting strategies for both the written and digital press is recognized, considering the differences between both platforms. In addition, the monetization strategies implemented during that semester will be examined, including possible changes in digital advertising, the development of sponsored content or the promotion of digital subscriptions, with the aim of evaluating their effectiveness and their impact on the medium's income. On the other hand, the collaborations and associations established by El Correo during this period are explored, investigating whether alliances have been carried out with other media outlets, organizations or personalities in order to expand coverage and diversify the content offered on the page. newspaper website.
