Abstract

The family is the fundamental axis for children's lives and child development. In accordance with the statements that maintain that family support contributes to the emotional well-being of children, it is maintained that children learn values, customs, rules and emotional responsibility from their parents, this makes it easier for children to be active people. Based on what was described above, for the development of this research the categories of analysis are indicated, one of them is family support, which contributes behaviorally and socially to the development of the individual, as well as academic performance: it can be see reflected in the learning and achievement process expressed by the student. In this case study, the research focuses on determining the influence of family support on academic performance in a child with behavioral problems of an 8-year-old boy from the city of Machala, who is crossing the fourth year of Basic General Education. , with alleged behavioral problems. For this purpose, we have used the following instruments for this case study: the two interviews designed for the teacher, mother and finally the family test was applied that measures the family context, the emotional state of the child, with respect to their adaptation to the family environment. Behavioral problems cause poor academic performance, which makes learning and social interaction difficult. Family support is the fundamental basis for social development and development and academic performance.
