Revisión bibliográfica de obstrucción por cuerpos extraños, signos clínicos, fisiopatología, diagnostico y tratamiento quirúrgico, en caninos (canis lupus familiaris).

Abstract

The obstruction by strange bodies is one of the pathologies that should not be left aside in any age of the animal since it can be presented in adult dogs, although it has been described that the puppies are more prone to obstruction because they can eat things by curiosity, by game, etc., the adult animals also can present/display obstruction by the feeding either by bones of chicken, hooks, etc. It is described that there are few cases of cats with obstruction, but in them the most common obstructions are of linear form because they usually play with linens, wools, etc. The veterinarian must know how to diagnose this pathology with the help of anamnesis, symptoms and complementary examinations such as radiography and ultrasound, and laboratory examinations which will give information about the general condition, so that in this way it is possible to act in the best way with conservative treatment or surgical treatment if necessary. Many of the patients with this pathology present metabolic imbalances, so first the symptomatology or stabilization of the patient is treated and then surgery is performed. The anesthesia that is applied in these patients must go depending on the physiological constants that have in animal, because the metabolic alterations can present/display are going to complicate the anesthesia. The surgical technique should be performed according to the doctor's criteria, based on the theory and practice already obtained previously.
