| dc.description | Existen ciertos trastornos mentales que suelen surgir cuando las personas se convierten en adultos mayores, los más comunes son el deterioro cognitivo y la demencia tipo Alzheimer. Debido a esto es necesario saber en qué consisten estos trastornos, qué es lo que causan en el individuo y saber cómo detectarlos de manera temprana para así poder realizar un correcto diagnóstico y un adecuado tratamiento. Hoy en día existen múltiples test que son de mucha ayuda, como lo es el test Mini-mental el cual es uno de los más famosos y usados. Es por esto que el objetivo de este ensayo es analizar el uso del test mini mental para el diagnóstico temprano del deterioro cognitivo del adulto mayor. Para lograrlo se realizó una investigación bibliográfica en donde se refleja el uso del test Mini-mental en diferentes países y poblaciones. Concluyendo que, si es correcto usar el test Mini-mental para diagnosticar el deterioro cognitivo en adultos mayores, pero para ello se debe tener en cuenta la escolaridad y la edad de los pacientes para evitar un mal diagnóstico | es_ES |
| dc.description.abstract | There are certain mental disorders that usually arise when people become older adults, the most common of which are cognitive impairment and Alzheimer's dementia. Because of this, it is necessary to know what these disorders consist of, what they cause in the individual and how to detect them early in order to make a correct diagnosis and adequate treatment. Nowadays there are multiple tests that are very helpful, such as the Mini-mental test which is one of the most famous and used.That is why the objective of this essay is to analyze the use of the mini-mental test for the early diagnosis of cognitive impairment in the elderly. In order to achieve this, a bibliographic research was carried out which reflects the use of the Mini-mental test in different countries and populations. The conclusion is that it is correct to use the Mini-mental test to diagnose cognitive impairment in older adults, but it should take into account the schooling and age of the patients to avoid misdiagnosis. | es_ES |
