Abstract

The intangible cultural heritage is a legacy that must be safeguarded by those involved, the present research involves a management to safeguard the ICH of the parish Abañin, Zaruma, Ecuador. The objective is to propose protection, conservation and dissemination strategies that improve the management of the PCI, traditional craft techniques through the application of charters and laws that establish policies to keep their culture alive, unifying the population and strengthening an identity that seems lost, current generations are unaware or there is a detachment towards their roots, traditions, customs, as well as the social use of it influenced by the globalized technological development. Extensive field research was conducted with stakeholders, community and governance. The analysis of the surveys to the community versus the interview to the competent authority gave as a result the seriousness of the same, little by little the parish is running out of intangible cultural heritage.
