Abordaje de la evaluación psicológica psicométrica a niños bajo sospecha de discapacidad intelectual

Abstract

Intellectual disability is a cognitive pathology that significantly affects children with learning problems worldwide. Taking into account that the normalized intellectual capacity of the human being allows adequate adaptation to daily life, it is necessary to know the evaluation mechanisms for the detection of any intellectual pathology or learning that is affecting the child in its development. The psychological interview is one of the fundamental assessment instruments for clinical diagnosis, for the record of the information obtained the clinical history is used. The objective of this study: to describe some reliable psychometric tests to assess children with different disorders and to provide an adequate treatment plan for the rehabilitation of the clinical case under investigation. Therefore, the psychometric evaluation tools are used: Wechsler Intelligence Scale for children, with average intelligence; TEDE test, low reading level for your age; BENDER, one year late; EDAH scale: no risk of ADHD. According to the diagnostic criteria of the DSM-V would be located in a specific learning disorder with reading difficulties, mild gravity. Emphasizing that the early detection of a childhood disorder is essential for proper rehabilitation. The psychometric evaluation is very important for the diagnostic process, since its different scientifically validated tests become an indispensable tool for the clinical psychologist that supports a professional degree when issuing the results of each case.
