Alternativas actuales sobre el tratamiento de covid-19 durante el embarazo

Abstract

INTRODUCTION: Pregnancy can compromise the immune system and potentially SARS-CoV-2 infection can increase the risk of pneumonia in pregnant women compared to non-pregnant women. The World Health Organization (WHO) designated pregnant women as a vulnerable group based on preliminary reports of an increased risk of stillbirth, preterm birth, and fetal growth restriction (FGR). OBJECTIVE: To describe the different treatment alternatives for covid-19 in pregnant women. METHOD: A bibliographic review of the latest indexed scientific publications was carried out using databases such as: PubMed, MESH, COCHRANE, NCB, NIH to collect information about current alternatives on the treatment of covid 19 during pregnancy. CONCLUSION: Currently, a limited number of drugs are used to treat coronavirus. There are not enough studies in the literature to defend the safety of most drugs used to fight SARS-CoV-2 infection during pregnancy and breastfeeding. It has been shown in animal studies that the use of certain drugs that are currently used for SARS-CoV-2, usually presents an adverse reaction during pregnancy and lactation. Therefore, well-completed studies are required to consider the safety of anti-COVID-19 medications during the pregnancy and lactation cycles.
