Abstract

Acute pancreatitis is the inflammation of the pancreas generating complications at the local and systemic level, compromising vital organs resulting in multiple organ failure in the individual. It is estimated that worldwide, approximately 80% of cases in the population tend to develop mild to severe pancreatitis, the most common symptom being epigastric pain with radiation to the lumbar region, nausea, emesis, hyporexia and jaundice. Among the main risk factors are the presence of gallstones and hypertriglyceridemia. Acute pancreatitis in pregnancy is rare, according to data obtained, it is observed that between 0.03% to 0.09% of pregnant women present this pathology during the third trimester of pregnancy and the puerperium, where biliary diseases are the primary cause followed by hyperlipidemia , the use of toxic substances and viral diseases.
