Tendencia del ejercicio profesional del bioquímico farmacéutico en la farmacia privada en el Ecuador y su desempeño laboral

Abstract

The role of the pharmaceutical professional has been taking place for many years, being known especially in countries such as Spain, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Ecuador, among others, their role is fundamental for the health sector since it is oriented to a model of personalized attention to the patient, with a safe dispensing of medicines that are constituted under the medical prescription and the patient's pathology, thus avoiding self-medication, encouraging the safe and responsible use of medicines, carrying out pharmaceutical interventions with the doctor and promoting the rational use of medicines. Pharmaceutical care is ideal in this field since it allows a close pharmacist-patient relationship, ensuring that the dispensed drugs are used safely and effectively, avoiding the presence of adverse events to the patient and thereby achieving great therapeutic benefits. OBJECTIVE: Analyze the trend of the professional practice of the Pharmaceutical Biochemist in the Private Pharmacy in Ecuador, by reviewing scientific bibliographic sources, to determine his job performance. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The present case has a qualitative, descriptive approach based on a bibliographic review of indexed scientific articles. CONCLUSION: The activity and attitude of the pharmacist towards the role of the Pharmaceutical Biochemist within the public and private pharmacy of Ecuador is identified under the guidelines established in the current legal regulations and ethical values.
