Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the infectious-contagious diseases of great social and economic impact that affects with great incidence in Latin America and the Caribbean, especially in developing countries such as Ecuador, this infection is transmitted through the air and Its etiological agent is the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis, today it continues to be one of the main causes of morbidity and mortality in the world, although it is mainly a pulmonary pathogen, this infection can lodge and affect different tissues and organs outside the lung parenchyma, receiving Thus, the name of extrapulmonary tuberculosis, according to the World Health Organization (WHO) represents 20-25% of cases of tuberculosis disease, it can also be confused with a wide spectrum of pathologies, therefore it generates difficulties in its diagnosis and timely treatment .
