Propuesta de optimización tecnológica de la atención odontológica en Centro de Salud C Materno Infantil y Emergencias Zaruma

Abstract

Dental care at the primary health level faces growing challenges due to the high prevalence of oral diseases, limited preventive coverage, and the technological gap. The objective of this research project is to analyze the characteristics of dental care and the use of technological tools at the Health Center Maternal and Emergency Services in Zaruma, and to identify opportunities for technological optimization. Through an observational, retrospective, descriptive and analytical study based on the analysis of 2024 clinical dental care records, a demand heavily focused on restorative procedures was identified, with limited implementation of preventive actions. Likewise, a decrease in the volume of care compared to historical averages was observed, attributable to shortcomings in human resources, technological infrastructure and connectivity. As a proposed improvement, a Teledentistry System assisted by Artificial Intelligence (STO-AI), was modeled, capable of perfoming automated triage, preliminary diagnosis through imaging, and remote consultations, adapted to areas with limited connectivity. This strategy seeks to strengthen the efficiency, equity, and sustainability of oral healthcare, in alignment with the country´s digital health guidelines.
