Abstract

In today's education, several improvements are required in the teaching-learning process, due to the fact that it is necessary to respond to the contemporary needs of education. Therefore, it is necessary for teachers to have knowledge of how to use didactic material as a creative strategy that favors meaningful learning in students through motivating and attractive classes. The above mentioned is important to create a harmonious and favorable learning environment for all the actors of education. The present work focuses on the approach of didactic material as a facilitating tool of the teaching-learning process, for this reason, we have set out the following objective to determine the incidence of the use of base 10 material in the teaching-learning of basic mathematical operations in elementary school students, at the UNE school, school year 2023-2024, in order to strengthen not only mathematical skills, but also the skills and logical thinking of students. Likewise, the methodology used in the research is qualitative-quantitative with descriptive, explanatory level, at the same time it is oriented by the comparative, analytical and deductive and inductive method. All this allowed to give relevance and precision to the information collected with the research instruments that were interview, observation guide and test, and was applied to the sample taken from the institution, in which 6 elementary school teachers and 126 students participated and this process is supported under the bibliographic modality. In summary, the results of the research show that it is necessary to implement motivational strategies to redirect the teaching-learning of mathematics in the early school years and obtain a quality education; an education that allows students to know how to apply what they have learned throughout their schooling and thus, it is valuable for their lives. In addition, the concern and demand that the teaching team should have regarding the educational reality should be timely, because the academic results of those they have guided throughout the school year depend on them. For this reason, self-preparation, the search for knowledge and the updating of the ways of teaching are essential in order to keep up with the current demands in training and to achieve the objectives of education. At the end of the research it can be concluded by mentioning that the use of didactic materials has an impact on the teaching-learning of basic operations since it depends on how it is taught the result of student learning, at the same time it was identified that the base 10 material as a didactic material brings many advantages in the educational process of mathematics, It can be easily combined with various activities and it is even feasible to combine it with technology to obtain maximum performance in this area, and with this it is easy to generate enthusiasm in students to acquire new knowledge. The importance of these materials in mathematics for the development of essential skills that are the basis for the acquisition of more complex knowledge cannot be overlooked.
