Uso de la inteligencia artificial en la educación superior: caso de estudio Universidad Técnica de Machala, período 2019-2022.

Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) has revolutionized various areas, including higher education, optimizing learning. In Ecuador, its implementation in schools and universities has been increasing. This study analyzes the possibilities of using AI at the Technical University of Machala. A qualitative approach was used, with descriptive research and deductive method. 15 in-depth interviews were carried out with key authorities, analyzed using the ATLAS.TI tool. The results revealed a basic knowledge about AI at the university, recognizing the need for training. It was proposed to apply AI in all careers and the possibility of creating new related careers. The importance of establishing an ethical and legal regulatory framework was highlighted. Although the Technical University of Machala has begun to use AI, it is necessary to strengthen knowledge through training, consider its transversal implementation in careers, and establish ethical and legal guidelines for its proper application in higher education.
