Abstract

Working on logical mathematical skills in children is essential since these will allow them to understand the reality that surrounds them and the best way to do it is by playing; situation that is made difficult by the little use of active playful strategies by teachers, which causes many students to have a low level of development of related basic skills; On this subject, the present investigation was developed whose objective was to determine the influence of playful activities on the development of mathematical logical thinking in children of Initial Education 2 of the "City of Zaruma" School of Basic Education. The research carried out was of a mixed type, that is, the qualitative and quantitative approaches were addressed together and the study was of a correlational type; Likewise, the paradigm used was the interactionist. In the investigation, 3 teachers and 40 children of Initial Education 2 participated, to whom an interview and a checklist were applied respectively; The information obtained was tabulated and summarized in tables and statistical figures, which facilitated its subsequent analysis, comparison, and interpretation, and the following conclusion could be established: There is a close link between recreational activities and the development of mathematical logical thinking, so these must be used to work this skill from different areas, linking the experiences acquired by children through play with the expected learning, encouraging them a new way of learning mathematics, favoring their creativity, reasoning and problem-solving skills, among others .
