Los estereotipos sociales como influencia en la violencia de pareja hacia la mujer

Abstract

Stereotypes are beliefs ingrained as part of the social culture, granting a power of superiority to men, while women must fulfill a predisposed role and if they do not do so, they are usually victims of iolence. The objective of this research is to determine the influence of social stereotypes on intivmate partner violence against women. It is based on the social learning approach proposed by Bandura, which refers to the power of observational learning in the acquisition of behavior with male models that exist in the home, during childhood development. The research sample is made up of four cases that respond to the study variable, partner violence against women, whose participants present an age range of 18 to 50 years and a history of partner violence. The study used a qualitative-hermeneutic research approach of phenomenological design, data collection tools were used, such as, semi-structured interview and a second valid instrument the Life Histories, where women recounted their experiences chronologically. It was organized with the following categories of analysis, a) social stereotypes, social role of women, work role and family role, b) types of violence: physical, psychological and sexual and c) social models: behavior without limits, prevailing behavior and macho behavior. The results showed that social stereotypes have an influence on partner violence against women, and that stereotyped ideas of power relations are evident, as well as the care of the children, their total permanence in the home involved in daily activities, and not granting them the right to carry out social and work activities; In relation to the types of violence, it is evident a great repercussion in psychological violence, such as humiliations and manipulations issued by their partners and finally, among the social behaviors, it is highlighted the behavior without limits, which refers to the caregivers who allow and please the child's demands, without establishing rules or denying anything, without being corrected at the time of issuing a conflictive behavior with women, getting to develop macho behaviors.
