Abstract

The present work of degree that has the title " Urban art as a subversive tool in the city of Machala". aims to develop a proposal for urban interventions with different techniques on a wall support, the design is oriented to the hegemonies of power as overwhelming manipulation by the ruling class of the cultural system of Machaleña society, understood as a personal artistic production and the imprint from urban art as points of reflection of space and time. Urban art is one of the visual cultural movements that are part of the city, where graffiti and its variants are very significant for the cultural and social environment of a given space. In the well-known street art, it mixes a multiplicity of characteristics that come to confuse this type of art, both in its aesthetic and communicative possibilities. From this time these incidents are referred to as post-graffiti, as an allusion to a single mode of expression where you can play freely with a multitude of techniques and materials such as: templates, posters, stickers, murals and more. Urban art is an artistic, street, protest, transgressive and social phenomenon that brings with it debates on the use of public space and this type of art as a tool for denunciation and subversion. People who usually work this art try to spread messages that incite social struggles and question everything that is established in the system. Its constant aesthetic evolution, the new wave of artists and the discrepant way of spreading their messages, or their only way of approaching social issues such as culture and politics, is what causes it to become an important artistic phenomenon for populations with complex realities. 5 The research explores the different expressions that unconventional Urban art adopts, the selected information provided by art critics, cultural managers and urban art practices exhibits the current state of local street art. The purpose of the research proposal is to project a message close to its initial proposal, which is urban art as a subversive tool, in the proposal of interventions in the center of the city of Machala, which represents the systems of cultural oppression in the which local urban artists are affected. The composition aims to project a personal production of the author with a message that transmits curiosity, uncertainty, more than answers, since the works will be in the street and that creates an infinite possibility of answers, in addition to its constant change due to its character. ephemeral. Through this research and graphic production, it is hoped to propose a dialogue with the author and the urban space interested in these artistic practices, so that in the future a better management of public space for a correct artistic proposal and response by the population, in addition to create a conjuncture of the same act that emerges from these situations belonging to a space and a time.
