Visibilización del maltrato animal en la ciudad de Machala a través de la producción audiovisual

Abstract

The present titling work is presented as the final step to obtain a degree in the Communication career at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the Technical University of Machala, the practical modality work is entitled: Visibility of animal abuse in the city ​​of Machala through audiovisual production. It was considered that the incidence of audiovisual production is very important to make visible the situation of animal abuse in the city and thus promote respect and proper care for animals. That is why the authors decided to produce an audiovisual report, in which the cases of animal abuse that occurred in the city of Machaleña are evidenced and testimonies of experts on the subject are shown since, through it, it is possible to arrive clearly and needs people. The report not only seeks to show the events, but also to extract productive elements that contribute to raising awareness about this problem. This project was carried out in the city of Machala, the methodology applied was of a qualitative nature, for which different techniques were carried out such as content analysis, it allowed the evaluation of different audiovisual reports shared in local, national and international digital media, leaving as a result, suggestions that allowed the elaboration of an audiovisual product in reportage format of the authorship of the filmmakers of this work. Interviews were also conducted with three groups of people; On the one hand, journalism professionals who carry out reports were interviewed in order to know important aspects for the elaboration of the product; on the other, activists-animalists, in order to know the reality of the problem to be addressed, likewise, audiovisual producers were also interviewed who shared technical suggestions for the realization of the final product. Finally, a bibliographic review was carried out to define necessary concepts and thus the reader can understand the subject of study, to comply with this technique, scientific articles, theses, and indexed scientific journals were reviewed. For the elaboration of the audiovisual product, extensive field work was carried out, where the authors toured the streets of Machala in order to capture on video the cases of animal abuse and abandonment, having as main reference the general cemetery of Machala, a place in where it was possible to count around 60 animals, between dogs and cats. In the report, testimonies were collected from professionals from different areas, activists in favor of animal rights and the municipality of the canton who are in charge of animal welfare in the canton. The central message that this audiovisual report hopes to convey is that cases of animal abuse are increasing and occur more frequently in the city of Machala and therefore, it seeks to make known that animals also have rights that protect their lives. and that citizens must abide by them, otherwise there is a municipal ordinance that penalizes the abandonment and mistreatment of animals.
