Abstract

<b>Coffee is a product with wide demand, due to its quality and reception in national and international markets, it also represents a great contribution to the economy of many producers and due to the high rate of employment it generates for millions of families dedicated to its production and commercialization. In coffee production it is essential to know the different types of pruning and its best time to perform it, with the aim of increasing its productivity and improving the quality of the grain, among which are: training pruning, rehabilitation pruning and sanitary pruning. Currently, coffee production in Ecuador has decreased considerably, however, the diversity of its climates and different climatic and environmental conditions are conducive to its growth and physiological development. In effect, this titling work has been carried out with the purpose of collecting scientific and updated information for a better understanding of the effect of good pruning management and the benefits it provides in the production of coffee cultivation. The information reflected in this work was obtained through the search, review and bibliographic research of articles and scientific journals published and carried out in Ecuador and different parts of the world.<b>
