Principales problemas ambientales causados por el mal manejo de las áreas de manglar concesionadas

Abstract

This research focuses on identifying the main environmental problems caused by poor management of concession mangrove areas, the conflict is primarily based on the destruction of one of the most dynamic and important ecosystems in the world, due to its high capacity to mitigate effects of climate change, being a protective barrier for the coastal strip against natural phenomena, serving as a habitat for thousands of bio-aquatic species, and other environmental values. In addition to representing a very important territory, as sources of income and food for the towns that have developed around this mangrove area. The aquaculture industry has also been able to take advantage of this ecosystem, which in 2019 represented the first category of non-oil exports from Ecuador. Under the figure of concession, a delimited area of ​​mangrove is given to entrepreneurs from the aquaculture industry, ancestral communities, or users settled along the coastal profile, this is developed through an Agreement for Sustainable Use and Custody of Mangrove, where people Beneficiaries must comply with certain guidelines in order to conserve these ecosystems and the agreement remains in force. The objective of this work is to identify the different environmental problems that occur in these productive areas, such as the loss of biodiversity, pollution, global warming, among others. Which are directly related to the destruction of mangrove forests due to mining, the construction of pools for shrimp farms, and the overexploitation of marine resources, etc.
