Protección de adultos vulnerables desde la perspectiva del trabajo social en el Centro Gerontológico del Buen Vivir, Huaquillas, 2021

Abstract

Our work of systematization of experiences has the idea of knowing the violated rights of the older adults of the gerontological center of Huaquillas, through this process of titling if it wants to make known the incidence of the social worker and what factors help to contribute to a strengthening of the human rights that corresponds to him. On the other hand, the problem is posed in this research as a social action based on the residential modality, where family members are the main causes of abandonment and lack of protection for the elderly. This most vulnerable population group goes through different physical, psychological and social changes, which depend on the lifestyle, family and social system in which they are immersed. For this reason, this research seeks to develop a positive effect in terms of providing comprehensive protection to the elderly, allowing them to enjoy a dignified and healthy life. Also, to make society aware that this group of priority attention should not be excluded but be an active part of our environment. This led to qualitative research, this model is based on knowing the social phenomena, the objectives of an investigation and then interpreting them. At the same time, it goes hand in hand with a synthetic analytical methodology, it is based on studying the phenomenon from its center and being able to understand its background. Once the methodology to be used in this systematization project has been determined, we proceed with the referential framework, that is, the development of the research where the most relevant topics for our systematization of experiences will be addressed, starting from the background of the elderly, basic conceptualizations of the elderly, legal regulations, the role of the social worker, roles of other professionals doctors, psychologist, therapist, support from other inter-institutional networks. Subsequently, we were asked to develop an intervention plan and activities that asked us to determine the problem and act as future professionals, among these activities were interviews with professionals, recreational and playful activities that allowed us to have contact with older adults. All these activities were carried out based on the needs of the elderly and the gerontological center of Canton Huaquillas, and how we as future professionals can act in response to this problem. In addition, we had the support of the professionals of the gerontological center, especially the social worker, who was our guide during this process. This whole intervention process was accepted by the older adults, where they shared their most positive and joyful experiences of the gerontological center, also they were able to interact with them through games puzzles, bingo, among others, which help to enhance their development and create a harmonious space. Finally, it can be seen that this entire systematization process led us to enrich our knowledge and strengthen our actions as social work professionals. It was also possible to identify that the reality that each older adult lives is different, and that no one is less than the others; therefore, each one will need an intervention process according to his or her needs.
