Abstract

People's way of life has been affected in a certain way by population growth and therefore by the increase in solid waste, which has become a very difficult issue to resolve, causing poor management from the Segregation at source until final disposal. In the present practical work, a diagnosis of solid waste management in the city of Arenillas in the province of El Oro is developed; Through a survey carried out in the community and by visiting the dump, the unwillingness of handling solid waste and the consequences that this causes are made known. To deal with this great problem, it is necessary to start treating it from the source, having a Plan for the installation and operation of usable Urban Solid Waste recovery centers, since this program will help to make the different types of materials known to the public. that can be reused, to achieve this objective it is necessary to implement environmental education programs, segregation and storage centers for solid waste, family gardens, as well as training on composting, implementing recycling and its benefits to the own economy and great help to the city's ecosystem. The purpose of each of them is to reduce the environmental impact and improve the quality of life.
