La educación sexual y su afectación en la salud mental de los adolescentes.

Abstract

Mental health is a difficult construct to define, due to the variety of conceptualization existing by various authors, however, most agree that mental health is affected by social influences, which causes the individual to make wrong decisions, being early pregnancy, the transmission of venereal diseases, abuse or sexual assault the most common. This generates over time emotional disorders such as anxiety and depression, due to misinformation or ignorance of the subject. For this reason, the present work aims to determine the effects on the mental health of adolescents who did not receive adequate sex education at an early age. The methodology applied corresponds to a descriptive bibliographical research, based on scientific articles and current books, where it covered the theoretical foundations of education, conceptualization, its importance and benefits. Likewise, the theory that mental health professionals should use to adequately educate issues related to sexual health was highlighted. In addition, two studies carried out by researchers on the knowledge that adolescents have about sexual health and the effects that have caused the ignorance of it were investigated. According to the results, 58% of adolescents are unaware of the subject; 33% have experienced their sex life from an early age and 68% have mental disorders as emotional disorders. According to the literature review, there is a high lack of knowledge about sexual health, and this is due to several factors.
