Abstract

This essay focuses on the analysis of Sigmund Freud's Rat Man case, diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder OCD of the Personality. Through this diagnosis, the obsessions, compulsions and thoughts present in OCD were studied, a disorder that was analyzed under the Cognitive Behavioral theory, where the problem that the subject experienced with the presence of distorted and obsessive thoughts, caused by the feeling that he had against his father; Compulsive actions and rituals that he performed when trying to reduce discomfort in the presence of negative ideas against his loved ones were also identified. The work was written based on a bibliographic review focused on the abstention of current, truthful and up-to-date information regarding the issues of personality, obsessive compulsive disorder and the cognitive behavioral approach. In addition, the MMPI-2 RF inventory and the Obsessive Intrusive Thoughts Inventory were considered, which analyze and measure personality traits, behavior, thoughts, family area, social, personal and cognitive distortions. The diagnostic criteria described in the DSM-V diagnostic manual were reviewed and contrasted along with the symptoms present in the Rat Man case. In the different sections regarding the case, there is evidence of the little information regarding the social-environmental area from a cognitive-behavioral approach, and the problems that are triggered when there is no consistent development of this in a person's childhood.
