Kwashiorkor en paciente pediátrico de 2 años de edad

Abstract

In the present work, an investigation of scientific articles was carried out based on the study of the clinical case of a 2-year-old pediatric patient who presented diagnoses of malnutrition disorders, diarrhea, pneumonia and possible bacteremia. One of the factors that produced this syndrome is due to nutritional disorder, early weaning, poor parental care and lack of knowledge about balanced nutrition; it also depends on the place where the infant lives, since these cases are more prevalent in developing countries. The main objective of this research is to determine the type of proteneic-energetic malnutrition that the patient is suffering from, since the results obtained will help to establish an adequate treatment. The methodology used in this study is descriptive, based on the research of scientific articles related to the object of study. Through the bibliographic search it was possible to identify the type of malnutrition and to establish a first choice enteral nutritional treatment for the pediatric patient.
