Propuesta artística sobre la relación entre la pintura surrealista y las redes sociales en tiempos de pandemia

Abstract

The present research work entitled "Artistic proposal on the relationship between surrealist painting and social networks in times of pandemic", raises the issue of the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on people seen from surrealist painting, using digital media as tools for the creation of this series of eight portraits in gray scales and color backgrounds, of which people from different parts of the world were part, using art to express different thoughts. This project consists of four chapters; The first includes the appearance of surrealist painting and its relationship with technology since prehistory, where it was already perceived how man embodied in a surreal and symbolic way his rituals and daily life in the supports that nature offered him as rocks and in the walls of its caves, which were its means of dissemination at that time, later even before the appearance of surrealism as an artistic movement, precedents appear in the art world, such as Goya's Los Caprichos, in Bosco and Valdes Leal's which could be considered as pre-surreal. Finally, in the 20th century, surrealism appeared, which was a movement that appeared in Europe after the First World War and was influenced by Dadaism, with the characteristic of promoting the irrational and dreamlike, at this time art already had propaganda media such as magazines , exhibitions and artists' societies, the chapter concludes in the current era where the media are now digital and used more and more frequently for the dissemination and realization of the work of art. The second chapter deals with the definition and foundation of the work where it is explained how it will be carried out, which is basically the collection of photographs and information of the people who will be portrayed through the social network Instagram, as well as the search for information that support this artistic work. The third chapter deals with the construction phases of the work, addressing in the first part the artistic pre-production that is the realization of graphic approaches of what the work will be and the process of carrying out the work until the expected result is obtained. Once this phase of work was completed, the critical approach was carried out, which is based on the criticism of authors who treat the subject of figurative surrealism and its evolution throughout the history of art, with all this the primary objective of this work is demonstrate how digital media in times of pandemic can serve for artists as a means of expression and a tool for the creation of the work of art, since it allows us to connect immediately with the whole world and has configured a new panorama so that the artist can advance more autonomously and his work is valued. There is no doubt that art can influence many aspects of what is human, but its primary value is its ability to humanize people in many social aspects such as the health crisis in this 2020.
