Abstract

Each year millions of people die as a result of traffic accidents, including causing a public health problem, as well as economic results, social benefits and social outcomes. of the automotive park, as well as the lack of drivers. In the country the rates of traffic accidents are in a considerable increase and alarmingly, with respect to previous years, this phenomenon is also due to the low capacity and level of service that these road infrastructures present, in addition it should be noted the non-compliance of traffic signals, which added all this triggers traffic congestion, insecurity and discomfort for both drivers and pedestrians. It is important to mention that the road transport system is essential for the economic development of a country, especially of a region or an area, as it constitutes an indispensable means of mobilizing people, products, etc. By minimizing problems mentioned above by maintaining and providing all the geometric elements that constitute a road, this will have a positive effect on the life and economy of Ecuadorians. In the city of El Guabo is one of the cities most affected by vehicular traffic; the excess of vehicles causes traffic jams that result in thousands of lost hours, delays and even road safety is lost, this situation is more noticeable in schools and colleges that are located on arteries of intense traffic, high pedestrian movement and passing of buses urban and interurban; as it is in the case of the road that passes to the front of the Educational Unit Dr. José María Velasco Ibarra the same that will be the object of the present study. For these reasons, the present project has as objective to solve the vehicular flow and the physical integrity of the students and parents that go to the Dr. José M. Velasco Ibarra Educational Unit, which is located in the South Pan-American Highway (Troncal de La Costa) between Luis Aguilar and September 7 streets in the Canton of El Guabo. In order to carry out our project, a bibliographical review was carried out on websites, texts, theses, scientific journals, among others concerning the study problem, and field research was carried out to visualize the problems that our study path has, then made the visual observation, on the presented problem that was the vehicular congestion, to evaluate this phenomenon manual gauging was done to determine the increase of the values of vehicular traffic volumes, same that took place on Monday, October 22 to Friday, October 26 of 2018. The vertical traffic signaling evaluation was also carried out, using the method (IESV), and the horizontal signals in the research area, in the same way the topographic survey was carried out in order to determine the most precise measurements that can be used in our draft Once the pertinent studies were carried out, the possible causes and requests were analyzed to minimize the vehicular congestion present in this road at peak hours, recommending the design and construction of vehicular parking with their respective sidewalks, drainage system, with their respective signage, considering the standards and technical specifications (INEN and MTOP), a solution that will benefit students and parents who move to the educational establishment and other users who circulate in this way, generating comfort and safety for drivers and pedestrians
