Impacto social y urbanístico de la planificación estatal para la reconstrucción de Portoviejo asolada por el terremoto de 2016

Abstract

The present essay aims to analyze the social and urban impact that affected the city of Portoviejo, and seeks to expose the social problems that arose after the earthquake of April 16, 2016, manifesting the different processes, methods and actions that occurred from the intervention of the government before the natural disaster; the work focuses on what the authorities did and what were the contingency plans, and strategies used to help the people who were severely affected on that fateful day, detailing how the national and local authorities intervened in the city. On the other hand, the mismanagement of millions of dollars that were destined for the reconstruction of the city is emphasized, highlighting the delays in the implementation of works and projects that were extremely urgent in those days. Today having passed more than 2 years of the event, you can feel how the city is currently, the merchants, the buildings, are some of the main problems that have not yet been resolved within the city, Portoviejo as capital Manabí, is a city that with the passage of time has not been able to meet the needs in its entirety, the disorder that originated after the earthquake, the psychological impact that still persists in people, are needs that still have most of the population.
