Abstract

Financial institutions have become an important part of the countries' economies, which contribute to business and industrial development through their credits. However, there are other institutions within the financial market that are equally important, such as securities and insurance. The stock market, through the Stock Exchanges of Quito and Guayaquil, negotiates the sale of negotiable securities, serving to channel capital in the medium and long term from a company to the user. In Ecuador also operate insurance institutions that are framed within the laws in force in the country whose regulatory and control is the Superintendency of Company, Securities and Insurance. The general objective of the research is to determine the characteristics of the securities market and insurance institutions located in Ecuador. The specific objectives are: to determine the public and private entities that carry out the activities of the securities and insurance market in the country; establish the agencies that control the activities of the securities market and insurance companies of the country. The methodological process used for the investigation was the descriptive method to analyze the characteristics of the securities market and insurance institutions, being necessary the use of the bibliographic technique to access primary and secondary sources in search of information accessing recognized portals to obtain scientific articles that contribute to the development of work.
