Abstract

This research work tells us about the periods of the Ecuadorian governments between 2002-2018 to know which non-tariff measures existed, which were applied in each government and verify if there was an economic impact or if the decisions taken by that government gave the expected results in relation to each tariff barrier. The methodological process used was the research through scientific journals, papers, books to obtain information from all agencies and institutions that relate non-tariff barriers especially those applied to Ecuador. As a conclusion to the subject investigated, it can be said that NTMs (Non-Tariff Measures) are those that restrict or control international trade since through their application have some control over imports, they also have the function of protectionist ie protect trade In a given country, for example, safeguards are those that allow the application of tariffs to certain merchandise or products in order to improve the balance of payments deficit, reactivate national consumption and improve the country's economy. the restriction of imports as the best competitiveness in the country such as offering quality products for the country and for export with prices accessible to the market.
