Resumen:
The roads are part of a road infrastructure for public use, which must be in good condition, providing a good service for safe transportation, complying with each of the parameters, which is established by the Ministry of Transportation and Public Works (MTOP), thus constituting an important role for the growth and development of a country. However, within the Ecuadorian territory there is a certain deficit in the roads, they are deteriorated, they present superficial damage to the road surface, these situations make vehicular traffic uncomfortable, in fact a road in poor condition can be the cause of mishaps while driving and damage to the car, thus reducing transportation because access to the territory is difficult. One of the problems that exist is the deformations that occur along the length and width of the road, this increases the risk of suffering accidents, since Driver behavior, vehicle condition and maintenance depend on the conditions of the pavement structure. The objective of the work is to evaluate the structure of the pavement of the urban roads of the El Retiro Rural Parish located in the city of Machala through the application of empirical methods, the work is aimed at identifying possible failures and classifying the injuries found in the pavement structures

Las carreteras forman parte de una infraestructura vial de uso público, las mismas que deben estar en buenas condiciones, brindando un buen servicio para un transporte seguro, cumpliendo con cada uno de los parámetros, que se establece dentro del Ministerio De Transporte y Obras Públicas (MTOP), constituyendo de esta manera un papel importante para el crecimiento y el desarrollo de un país. Sin embargo, dentro del territorio ecuatoriano existe cierto déficit en las vías, se encuentran deterioradas, presentan daños superficiales en la capa de rodadura, estas situaciones incomoda el circulamiento vehicular, en efecto una vía en mal estado puede ser causa de percances al volante y de desperfectos en el automóvil, reduciendo de esta manera el transporte porque se dificulta el acceso al territorio, uno de los problemas que existen son las deformaciones que se presentan a lo largo y ancho de las carreteras, esto incrementa el riesgo a sufrir accidentes, ya que el comportamiento del conductor, el estado y el mantenimiento del vehículo depende de las condiciones en las que se encuentra la estructura del pavimento. El objetivo del presente trabajo es evaluar la estructura del pavimento de las vías urbanas de la Parroquia Rural El Retiro ubicada en la ciudad de Machala mediante la aplicación de métodos empíricos, el trabajo va dirigido a identificar las posibles fallas y clasificar las lesiones que se encuentran en la estructura del pavimento
