In the “Santa Ines” farm of La Universidad Tecnica de Machala, research was conducted on asexual propagation of Stevia rebadiana using vegetative material consisting in twigs, semi-ligneous cuttings and air layering, for which we have raised the following objectives: 1. Compare the three methods of asexual propagation to obtain stevia seedlings. 2. Determinate the resistance percentage of physiological problems for each propagation method. 3. Establish the most efficient propagation method en basis to an economic analysis. The stevia germplasm was obtained from the Jarrin nursery located at the km. 20 via Guayaquil – Milagro. The treatments investigated consisted in three vegetative materials: twigs with leaf buds, semi-ligneous cuttings and air layering. The treatments were arranged in the experimental area following outlines of a randomized block design, with six repetitions. The experimental units were composed of 25 plastic tubs filled with the substrate to plant the vegetative materials. The statistical analysis conducted at 30, 45 and 60 days, excelling layering treatment. The initial engraftment of stevia from vegetative material, twigs, cuttings and layering was greater with cuttings and layering, varying within 89 to 94% approximately. The best development of leaf buds generated from asexual propagation, was superior in plants coming from air layering. The root biomass extracted from plants that were pinned was much higher in the ones from layering, exceeding twigs and cuttings in a 188% and 32, 7% respectively. The three systems of asexual propagation guaranteed to obtain similar amounts of habilitated plants for the transplant at the end of their stay in this nursery.es_ES
