Resumen : There is no doubt that language (oral, written, gestures, etc.) is the most widely used tool for human communication, in addition, language is one of the most important tools that boys and girls use to make sense of the world. that surrounds them and to form initial affective relationships. Thus, literacy becomes useful and important in the development of communication between human beings. This investigation has been carried out with the purpose of determining how the didactic process is developed in the teaching of literacy in students of basic average, in the Alborada Private Educational Unit, period 2022 -2023, as well as in what level of learning is find students with respect to reading and writing. This research work is determined by two approaches: quantitative and qualitative. It has a qualitative approach since educational quality is sought based on the level of application and knowledge of the different quality standards by teachers based on the opinions of those involved in the research, and, in the same way, it will have a quantitative approach because a literacy test was carried out on students in the fifth year of EGB and an interview with the grade teacher. Perhaps technological advances, the excessive use of social networks or the lack of didactic material and innovative strategies on the part of the teacher are causing the student to lose interest in reading and writing and it is evident to see students who make mistakes when reading and write, they read very fast without respecting punctuation marks or very slow, they confuse phonemes, poor handwriting and many spelling errors. To achieve satisfactory learning, the teacher must have adequate training because it is a duty as a professional to be in constant learning to improve the didactic processes in teaching. But, why is it currently stated in educational contexts that students "can't write"? Where will the difficulty be? Today it will be more difficult to write than in the past? These are some of the questions that are generated when the teacher of upper basic or high school reviews an activity and it is common to see errors and misspellings and bad handwriting. Thus, literacy is the basis of quality teaching, teachers must deepen the techniques and methods to be able to guide in this extremely important process, they must be able to train people who can understand when they read and understand what they write and so on. achieve students with a good level of reading and spelling. Literacy is a skill that is perfected throughout life and allows the communication of ideas, criteria, thoughts, feelings and emissions through understanding and interaction with the world around us, however, it is a gradual process. that starts from an early age, so it is important that appropriate methods and techniques are applied in their teaching. Thinking about the future of our students so that they achieve their goals and that they can function in any field and improve their vocabulary since it is the fundamental basis of human communication
