La violencia de género en el comportamiento social de las mujeres del barrio La Providencia de la ciudad de Machala

Abstract

Gender violence is a phenomenon that has affected society throughout the years, the word violence has integrated all the scenarios of the different social classes until today. Consequently, the nucleus of society called family is not exempt from violent practices, since violence within the home has caused many problems that have had a strong impact on society. On the other hand, women victims of violence, when constantly facing violent actions by their partner or spouse, generate high levels of depression, sadness, fear of speaking out and anxiety, but the fear of what may happen forces them to remain silent while their quality of life gradually deteriorates. Within this framework, the research seeks to analyze gender violence and its impact on the social behavior of women who have been victims of it, in the context of the La Providencia neighborhood, which will contribute to have a socio-cultural study that will allow knowing a dimension of the daily life of women and girls, whose rights have been and are violated, Gender violence in the social behavior of women in the neighborhood of La Providencia in the city of Machala. It is conceived that the diagnostic research aims to answer the following research question, How does gender violence affect the social behavior of women in the La Providencia neighborhood Systematically, in order to give an efficient answer to this question, the following specific objectives have been proposed, to identify the causes of gender violence against women in the La Providencia neighborhood, to determine the social behavior of women who experience violence in the La Providencia neighborhood; to know the social consequences of gender violence in the La Providencia sector; and finally, to identify the actions carried out in the La Providencia neighborhood to confront gender violence. The sociological approach applied in the research work is functional-structuralism, an approach that is inferred as a theoretical construction that sees society as a complex system, whose parts work together to promote social harmony. In the same way, this work is supported by feminist theory, which seeks to understand the power relations that exist between men and women, as well as their position in the social conglomerate that determine criteria currently applied such as equity and equal rights, in order to strengthen and ensure a harmonious environment. In turn, the epistemological approach of the research is the hypothetical-deductive one, which guides the researcher in such a way that it transforms his practice into something scientific. The expected results of having carried out the research and designed the intervention proposal are to build empowered communities, with the capacity to organize themselves and generate proposals that transform the lifestyle of their homes.
