Youtube is a digital platform known for the great content it has, whose authors are able to create large communities according to a theme or character exposed. It is presented in the digital era as an alternative for young people who seek entertainment, solve or answer questions, and as a means of visual communication between content creators and people who seek and view them. Thus, as time has progressed, new profiles have been created, better known as "youtubers", who fulfill different and new roles as content creators, among them are the educational "youtubers", people who use this web to share knowledge on specific topics, whether they are developed or not in classrooms and whose purpose is to bring information and data to people who require it. It is also questioned as an educommunicational tool, since it is projected as a massive and digital media that can be used in classrooms. However, since YouTube is a video network that explores content of all kinds: criticism, violence, adult content, etc., its educational role has to be monitored. Its educational role has to be monitored by adults, teachers or representatives of the still minors, in this way it can truly be considered as an educational pathway. In this sense, the research focuses on measuring the educational value of this social network in high school students of a particular educational unit, that is, to identify how education is promoted through the videos that exist in this digital space and to know if students give this meaning or value to the videos they find. The objective of the study was to identify the educational value provided by the most consumed contents on YouTube to high school students of a particular educational institution, for which, it was developed based on a mixed methodology, that is, quali-quantitative, given in the application of a survey and the execution of interviews to people related to the subject, whose data helped to collect and obtain relevant information. The results of this research indicated that students consider Youtube as one of the most popular applications due to the great variety of content shared within it and liked by a whole community of people. In addition, they determine that it offers the opportunity to create perceptions and assessments on topics that are shared worldwide and that, although it has a high notability and positioning, this does not infer to make students always search and access it. Another important result was that both students and experts interviewed did identify YouTube as a space that has the intention to educate and teach in different ways, formats and styles; and on a variety of topics, without detaching the main function they identify, which would be to share videos and entertain, sharing useful information on broad topics, including those connected to the subjects taught in their classrooms. However, it was evident that the preferred channels belong to the entertainment genre and not to the educational one.es_ES
