Resumen : Anorexia is a disorder that occurs frequently in adolescent women and rarely in men; Research indicates that there is a significant relationship between the social, family environment, interpersonal functioning and the symptom; It also brings about significant changes in the body of the person due to the distortion of the body image, with psychological consequences such as depression and anxiety, phobias and obsessive compulsive disorders, but also organic, such as amenorrhea and malnutrition, which in many cases leads to severe malnutrition, risk and may even cause the death of the person and consequences in the social environment, affecting family interaction. From the psychoanalytic theory, it is evident that the anorexia nervosa has a wide scientific basis on its etiology, in which it is not considered as a disorder, but rather as an emotional symptom, as psychic suffering that is installed in diverse mental structures and of this, the anorectic symptom appears, It is therefore, that the objective of this essay is to describe, through research and bibliographic analysis of scientific articles, the origin of this pathology from the psychoanalytic approach, through which it is demonstrated, how aspects influence, such as behaviors and maternal attachment, because this approach considers that affective relationships in the family play a very important role and according to certain conditions between the daughter and the mother, it is one of the factors that gives origin, evolution and maintains anorexia nervosa.
