In Ecuador, the tax principles that govern the tax system are: legality, equality, proportionality, generality and non-retroactivity, these principles allow from them to create, modify and disable laws, rules and regulations. At the present time it has become evident the little importance that is given to the tributary principles within the tax system of a country; The present research work focuses on an analysis of the importance of the principle of equality and the fundamental role that it fulfills within the Ecuadorian tax system. The principle of equality ensures that taxpayers are treated fairly and that their taxes are in accordance with the economic capacity they maintain. Before performing the analysis, the terms used in the development of the present research are conceptualized in order to be useful to facilitate the understanding of the research. The author explains how the principle of equality is applied within the system, the example that is developed is the calculation of the advance of income tax, classified in two large groups of taxpayers to reflect the equal treatment by the Tax Administration.es_ES
