Resumen : The study is focused on investigating how useful cognates and false cognates can be for English vocabulary growth, as well as their effects on the language learning process. Through a detailed analysis of the literature and the application of the scientific method, the linguistic elements of learning English vocabulary as a second language are investigated. The research provided a system of activities based on the use of cognates and false cognates as a lexical resource. It was developed from a quantitative methodological perspective and an experimental design. The population consisted of 34 students belonging to the 2nd BGU G of the Nueve de Octubre High School. Within the research, theoretical and empirical methods were used to support the study and collect data. The application of the proposed system allowed verifying the scientific hypothesis, appreciating that the global evaluation indicators showed significant advances that surpassed the initial results.
Descripción : El estudio está centrado en investigar cuan útiles pueden resultar los cognados y falsos cognados para el incremento del vocabulario del inglés, así como sus efectos en el proceso de aprendizaje del idioma. A través de un análisis detallado de la literatura y la aplicación del método científico, se investigan los elementos lingüísticos del aprendizaje del vocabulario inglés como segunda lengua. La investigación aportó un sistema de actividades basado en el uso de cognados y falsos cognados como recurso léxico. Se desarrolló a partir de una perspectiva metodológica cuantitativa y un diseño de tipo experimental. La población estuvo compuesta de los 34 estudiantes pertenecientes al 2do BGU G del Colegio de Bachillerato Nueve de Octubre. Dentro de la investigación se emplearon métodos teóricos y empíricos que permitieron fundamentar el estudio y recopilar datos. Resumen : The objective of the study presented was the application of a system of activities involving recreational games such as Colour it - Trace it - write it - make it, in order to improve English vocabulary in 7th grade students of the Jaime Roldós Aguilera school. It was developed from a quantitative perspective of experimental type with a population of 35 students of the basic general educational institution Jaime Roldós Aguilera, where were applied the methods of theoretical level such as, systemic method, historica llogical method, systemic analytical, and deductive hypothetical and also the empirical level such as: observation, test and experiment. The application of the pedagogical test allowed measuring the students' general knowledge of English vocabulary, which was insufficient. In order to solve the deficiencies identified in the English vocabulary, a class system was designed and applied based on the use of recreational games. The results obtained were subjected to hypothesis testing by applying inferential statistics with the CHI SQUARE test as a technique that allowed to prove the effectiveness of the system of activities in relation to the increase of the students' English vocabulary

Se desarrolló desde una perspectiva cuantitativa de tipo experimental con una población de 35 estudiantes de la Institución educativa general básica Jaime Roldós Aguilera, en donde fueron aplicados los métodos de nivel teórico tales como: método sistémico, método histórico-lógico, Analítico sistémico, e hipotético deductivo y además del nivel empírico como: la observación, el test y el experimento. La aplicación de la prueba pedagógica permitió medir el conocimiento general del vocabulario del idioma inglés de los estudiantes el cual fue insuficiente. Con el fin de resolver las falencias identificadas en el vocabulario del inglés se diseñó y aplicó un sistema de clases que se apoyó en el uso de juegos recreativos. Resumen : This research focuses on the application of the Project Based Learning PBL methodology in the teaching-learning process. Regarding this, the improvement of Oral Expression in English in students in the ninth year of basic general education of parallel B, school year 2022-2023 is proposed. With the objective that students develop oral expression and improve fluency, clarity, and coherence in their message, also using body movements and gesticulation, a lesson system is implemented. This research work is guided by the quantitative paradigm with an experimental design that seeks to verify itself through hypotheses, understand the effect of the variables, and then analyze and measure them to obtain results. Likewise, observe the manifestation of the problem. First, a diagnostic test is carried out on the 27 students, which allows to adapt a system of lessons to improve the students' oral expression through appropriate topics, then compare the results of the diagnosis with the final project post-test obtaining as evidence that the students presented problems at the beginning due to the lack of vocabulary and the use of their mother tongue. However, if teachers focus on a skill oral expression and teach content according to what the student is going to use in an exercise in class, the oral performance will improve to a certain degree, which was verified with the Chi square. In conclusion, the use of the PBL teaching methodology improves oral expression through dynamic and entertaining lessons for students.

Resumen : Phrasal Verbs play an important role in the English language because they are an essential part of the Anglo-Saxon vocabulary and are frequently used in conversation and writing. This can be a true challenge for Spanish-speaking students. This thesis evaluated the effectiveness of a classroom vocabulary acquisition system based on flashcards. This unique case study took place at the Kichwakunapak Amawta Yachay Intercultural Bilingual Unit in the city of Machala. The study is divided into four chapters, each with a specific purpose. The proposed class system effectively improved learning of phrasal verbs in the English classroom. Chapter one introduces the study's theoretical background. Chapter three proposes the practical contribution of the study: a class system. Finally, chapter four evaluates the effectiveness of this system. The research employed several theoretical methods such as analytic synthesis, historical logic, and systems, supported by hermeneutics as the primary qualitative research method. Chapter two outlines the methods used. From the empirical level, we used an experiment, pedagogical testing, observation, and interviews as part of the research scheme.
Descripción : Los Phrasal Verbs cumplen con un rol importante en el idioma inglés, ya que son una parte esencial del vocabulario anglosajón y se utilizan con frecuencia en la conversación y la escritura. Esto a su vez puede representar un verdadero desafío para los estudiantes hispanohablantes. En esta tesis, se evaluó la efectividad de un sistema de clases basado en la implementación de flashcards para la adquisición de vocabulario en el aula de inglés. Este estudio de caso único se llevó a cabo en la Unidad Intercultural Bilingüe Kichwakunapak Amawta Yachay de la ciudad de Machala. El sistema de clases propuesto fue efectivo para mejorar el aprendizaje de verbos frasales en el aula de inglés. El trabajo se divide en cuatro capítulos, cada uno con un propósito específico. El capítulo uno presenta el contexto teórico del estudio, el capítulo dos describe los métodos utilizados, el capítulo tres presenta el sistema de clases propuesto, que es el aporte práctico del estudio, y el capítulo cuatro evalúa la efectividad del sistema de clases. En la investigación se emplearon métodos del nivel teórico como el analítico sintético, el histórico lógico y el sistémico, sustentados en la hermenéutica como método fundamental de la investigación cualitativa.
